Has ANYONE in here actually had long-term success with this software? It would certainly be worth a try if there was a trial period, but there doesn't appear to be one. I was really hoping the Harvey Head Cleaner worked 'cause it looked interesting.

Actually I was really surprised that it insisted it was full since there was just a small area in the middle of the napkins that had ink colors.Д«ut, I suppose I can just dump some water in the new cartridge when I'm going to be gone. I just replaced the maintenance cartridge a month or so ago. This particular one contains all the little functions a tech would need to run functions for the 3880.

This the adjustment program for the PRO 3880 even though the sale says it will reset the ink counters, that is just their generic descriptionВ for all their Adjustment Programs. Otherwise you can run cleaning cycle after cleaning cycle and never be really sure you've flushed out the pink PF. That would absolutely insure that you've truly flushed out ALL the PiezoFlush. I think ideally you should run a printer initialization with the PRO 3880 reset program or Adjustment Program. If stored for a few months then most likely it's an acceptable loss, as if there were clogs you would use that much, or more, trying to remove them with cleaning cycles. About 10-12% ink lost every few weeks is a lot. So we would have about 100ML of colored ink usage everytime you do a store/restore to print cycle. Just guessing, I would believe that quantity is would be about 5 ML of each color. The 3880 requires a lot of mL of ink to purge from the lines and dampers to flush with PiezoFlush, then when you want to print you will need to flush the lines again with ink. But they didn't explain WHY.ДЈ880 experts will chime in, but I would think about empty carts with piezo flush solution that you can run through the printer and keep installed for long sabbaticals I've read in another forum that it's a good idea to put about 2 ounces of water in the maintenance cartridge once a month. Is there a better, more efficient way to make sure this thing is clear and ready to print? Rather than the Auto, should I be doing a head cleaning? Any ideas on avoiding clogs when left for extended periods, and the most efficient way to clear them when I do get them?

I've noticed that if there IS a clog, it's always either the Light Magenta or Magenta. I'm running with Auto so it clears any clogs. SO, I've taken to doing the nozzle check with 'Auto', which goes through a process of printing blocks then checking them. But, when I print, things can look pretty awful. It'll often look good - there may not be lines missing. When I get back after one of these long absences and prepare to use the printer, I release the cover and shake each cartridge and re-insert. I, for one, am saving my ducats and looking forward to printing large prints with this marvel. I have printed with a R800 for years, and have experienced clogged nozzles only twice - unclogging can be a process that ranks anywhere from trivial to unnerving when you consider the amount of ink that gets blown through the system each time you run a print head cleaning. The print head is permanent, although Epson have apparently tried to address the issue of clogging that typically plagues inactive Epson printers with their new 'specially coated' print heads that are supposed to minimize such clogging. Some reviews of the 3880 (I have been reading a lot of them in consideration of purchasing one was well) have actually described the value of the printer in terms that essentially justify the price of the printer this way: in addition to the superduperness of the 3880 printer, you also get several hundred dollars worth of ink with it.
